SOFRA: Faroe Islands // May 21-27, 2027
Nestled between Norway and Iceland, the Faroe Islands are truly unlike any other place on Earth. Unique in landscape, and stunning in culture, these islands have captured our hearts, and we can’t wait to host another retreat in this magnificent place.
If you’re interested in learning about a culture through its local people food, look no further. From farm tours and eating in the homes of locals to puffin safaris and scenery that is other-worldly, this culinary tour through the Faroe Islands is the trip of a lifetime.
Tentative Itinerary:
May 21st: Our team will pick you up from the Vagar airport this afternoon, and give you time to explore the Mulafossur waterfall and settle in. Dinner is provided.
May 22nd: This morning, we’ll enjoy breakfast together as a group, and then head out on the Traelanipa Hike to take in some incredible views of the Lake Above the Sea. This afternoon, we’ll embark on a Distillery Tour in Vestmanna, and then give you time to relax in the village before dinner at the cottages. We’ll learn traditional Faroese songs and history with our gracious hosts tonight over dessert.
May 23rd: This morning, we’ll enjoy breakfast before heading on a puffin safari boat cruise. Tonight, we’ll enjoy dinner in the home of a local, enjoying a traditional Heimablidni (Home Hospitality) meal, featuring tapas of Faroe Islands cuisine.
May 24th: After breakfast, we’ll have a road trip day, taking you to Tjornuvik Beach, known for its surf town vibes, and the adorable town of Saksun - where inland waters meet the Norwegian Sea. We’ll end the day in the capital city of Torshavn at our Spa Hotel, and enjoy some local Fish & Chips at one of our favorite mom & pop shops.
May 25th: A traditional Faroese breakfast is included at our hotel this morning, and then we’ll give you time for optional Nordic spa appointments, or time to explore downtown Torshavn. Lunch will be on your own today, but we will reconvene for dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in the Faroe Islands.
May 26th: After breakfast, we’re taking a day trip to the remote Northern Island of Kalsoy to do the famous Kallur Lighthouse hike. You’ll also get to see James Bond’s gravesite along this hike. When we say these views are stunning, we mean it. We’ve traveled all over the world, and this is still one of the best hikes we’ve ever done. We’ll stop by the popular Sea Woman statue before heading to Klaksvik to enjoy a food tour with a local farmer before heading back to our hotel.
May 27th: We’ll enjoy one last breakfast together before taking everyone back to the airport.
